In October 2024, L'Officiel Vietnam reported on a fundraising Garage Sale called Lilthu × Laws For Paws. All profits went to Laws For Paws Vietnam to help abandoned animals.

According to the magazine, the sale was joined by Vietnamese stars including singer Hồ Ngọc Hà, Thảo Nhi Lê and Minh Tú. L'Officiel highlighted how simple this made giving: buyers take home a piece they love, and in doing so help an animal find shelter.

The model of "buy a celebrity's pre-loved pieces for charity" also fits the rise of second-hand fashion

Why a garage sale works as fundraising

A celebrity garage sale solves three things at once. The seller clears her wardrobe. Buyers get a piece with a story at a fair price. And the charity gets funds plus attention from a new community.

With artists such as Hồ Ngọc Hà, Thảo Nhi Lê and Minh Tú taking part, the Garage Sale was no longer one person's project. It became a community event, with each celebrity bringing their own audience.

A long-held cause

According to a post by Laws For Paws Vietnam, the Garage Sale was held after Lilthu lost her beloved dog. A personal loss became help for other dogs.

This was not the first time Lilthu spoke up for animals. In her 2023 Kenh14 interview, she named animal welfare as one of the social causes she has supported publicly. The Garage Sale turned that view into concrete action.

The bigger picture: the charity garage sale sits within the global wave of second-hand fashion. Full analysis in 4.5.
