Phone launches used to revolve around the stage and the tech press reviews. With the Galaxy S26, Samsung showed that the centre of gravity has moved: into creators' hands.
What happened. In February 2026, Samsung held Galaxy Unpacked in San Francisco. According to Samsung Newsroom Vietnam, the company invited creators and media partners from Southeast Asia and Oceania. Each tried and retold a different feature: anti-peeping privacy, stabilisation, the camera system, the AI photo-editing assistant.
Why split features across creators. A flagship phone has dozens of features, but a viewer remembers one thing from one video. Giving each feature to a well-matched storyteller means each community receives the message meant for them.
The market context. Counterpoint forecasts that GenAI-capable smartphones will make up 45% of global shipments in 2026. When AI becomes standard, what sets brands apart is no longer specs but how features show up in real life, which is exactly what creators do best.
From Vietnam. The Vietnamese delegation included Lilthu, singer Văn Mai Hương and Chris Phan. Choosing three faces from music, lifestyle and entertainment shows Samsung wanted the S26 talked about as part of life, not just a piece of tech.

Traditional launch vs creator-led launch
At a traditional launch, the main storyteller is a company executive on stage. The content is specs and reviews, the language is English for every market, and the buzz usually lasts launch day plus a few weeks of press.
A creator-led launch is different. Dozens of people tell the story, each from a different angle. The content is real-life hands-on experience, told in the language and culture of each community, and it keeps appearing for weeks after the event.
Samsung Newsroom Vietnam published its round-up of creator and media perspectives in early April 2026, more than a month after the event: a clear sign of that longer life cycle.
One feature, one storyteller
Within the regional delegation, each creator was matched with a feature: a Vietnamese tech channel analysed the privacy feature, another creator focused on stabilisation, others tested the camera system or the AI photo-editing assistant. This split means each community hears the message that fits them, rather than the same message repeated everywhere.
Checklist for brands launching through creators
List the key features, one story per feature.
Choose creators by fit with each feature, not just follower count.
Give creators enough time with the product before they create.
Let creators tell it in their own voice; review only for technical accuracy.
Clearly disclose brand partnerships to keep audience trust.
Plan content for several weeks after the event, not just launch day.
Lesson for brands: don't pick creators by follower count and hand them the entire message. Pick the right person for the right feature.
